Promotion & Tenure
Promotion and Tenure Guidelines for the College of Public Health and Health Professions
Two of the most important types of decisions made in the University are those having to do with promotion and tenure. They are the principal means by which the quality of the institution is maintained and developed (UF Regulation 7.019). The Promotion and Tenure process of the University of Florida operates in conjunction with the fiscal year. Eligible faculty members should begin the process no later than July 1 of each year (see Promotion and Tenure timeline). The University of Florida guidelines, the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) guidelines, and for the two shared governance departments (Epidemiology and Biostatistics), the PHHP/COM guidelines are all detailed in the documents found on this site. All applications for promotion and/or tenure at UF will be processed in the Online Promotion and Tenure (OPT) system.
The application template is in myUFL. Your web browser should be set to allow pop-ups. The navigation to access the template is Main Menu > My Self-Service > UF Faculty Promotion and Tenure > Promotion and Tenure Packet > Packet Template with Activity. Note: the template will open as a Word file, with some sections auto-populated with the candidate’s information.
Information can also be found about the mid-Cycle review process, Sustained Performance Evaluation (SPE) process, and the Tenure Upon Appointment process. For questions, contact Lorie Martin, Director of Human Resources for PHHP, at lomarti@phhp.ufl.edu or 352/273-6198.
