Posting a TEAMS, OPS or Student Position

Posting Periods for Each Category

You may post a position for as long as you wish, provided the minimum posting period is met. However, you may NOT extend an offer to a candidate while the position is still posting.  Be judicious about what posting length you choose.

Prior to Posting

An approved PSF is required for all TEAMS recruitments

Prepare a standard list of questions that can be used for all applicants
Review questions that can and cannot be asked, with hiring authority/anyone who is part of the interview process

  • Review the position description (“PD”) for currency
  • Contact Lorie Martin to establish new TEAMS PDs or PD review PD updates, prior to entering an ePAF to create/edit a position
  • Identify key people: hiring authority, interview team.  If access to the pool is needed, please include members in the search committee field of posting
    •  Determine who will manage applicant pool for status changes, dispensing candidates, etc.
    • Discuss recruitment documentation (Sunshine Law), maintained in the department
  • OPS/students: review job duties and responsibilities with Hiring Authority, see Posting Periods table

Ready to Post

Submit the job requisition via Page Up.

Include the following:

  • See Posting Periods table, below
  • Salary language: Expected starting salary range is $XX-$XX, negotiable, based on education, skills, and experience. (For exempt positions, list annual salary; for non-exempt, list hourly salary)
  • Minimum Requirements: Copy exact language from PD
  • Advertising Summary: Copy language from the PD, using a few key sentences (which appear as applicants scroll through jobs in
  • Job Description: Copy language from the PD, removing percentages
  • Special Instructions to Applicants section, include the following:
    • Please provide a resume, cover letter, and references (and any additional requirements specific to the position such as a writing sample)

    Minimum Requirements: If an OPS position is posted requiring a PhD in Biostatistics, the position cannot be offered to applicants without a PhD in Biostatistics.  Better to state PhD in Biostatistics in Preferred Qualifications, and simply PhD, or Bachelor’s plus 6 years applicable experience, in Preferred Qualifications

Posting Has Ended

  • Candidate pool review (notify your HR Generalist for any assistance)
    • If current or previous UF employee, review employment history, eligibility to apply for positions re probationary period elsewhere
  • Multiple interviews should be conducted (whether telephone, Skype, or on campus)
  • Veterans Preference of eligible candidates
  • Telephone Interviews to narrow down on campus or Skype interviews
  • No offer can be extended until the posting officially closes and clearance received from Core HR
